Program
The aim of Tomorrow's Children is to create a positive, healthy environment for each child. In order to accomplish this aim, reinforcement is emphasized and discipline de-emphasized. However, it is recognized that external controls often have to be used in teaching children internal control and discipline. We will start at a point where the child can be successful, and teach them how good that feels, and carefully build on that success. Typically, the child or adolescent starts to change his/her perception of who they are. Self-esteem starts to grow, and the world becomes a much more positive place. Therefore, we are always striving toward utilizing the least restrictive techniques possible while in the process of developing more normalized, internal control.
Population
Tomorrow's Children is a state licensed Residential Care Center serving a population of children and adolescents who have demonstrated behavioral and emotional problems, and who have found community living difficult. With our separate homes and a small population (35), we are equipped to handle clients with a variety of diagnoses. These may range from the severely abused/neglected, to the cognitively or emotionally/mentally impaired.
